Mommy Self Care

We all agree that moms are superheroes. However many mothers tend to put themselves last in lieu of their family. So, we curated some tips for moms to prioritize themselves, especially during these unprecedented times.

Super mom relax

The term self-care has been thrown around a lot lately. Sure it’s fun to have some alone time, enjoy hot baths, and have time to exercise, but the reality is self-care means different things to different people. Especially moms.

Our philosophy is that it’s the little things that count. That is why we have gathered a few easy ways for you to put yourself first without having to hit the gym or shut yourself away from your family.

The first thing on the list is to accept help. Moms might be superheroes, but even superheroes have sidekicks. Many people are reluctant to ask or accept assistance - having an extra pair of hands is exactly what you need to help you spread the load.

The second thing would be to find an outlet. This can mean anything that makes you happy, and it fully depends on you as a person. If you love yoga carve out 20 minutes a day for yourself. If yoga isn’t your thing, but you love reading books commit to reading a chapter a day.  Find something you love and make time to do it.

The important thing here is to start small. Even the busiest of moms can find 5 minutes a day to do something just for herself. Be consistent as well, even if it is 5 minutes a day, let it be 5 minutes every day.

Another small, but important thing is to keep yourself connected. Busy lifestyles can lead to losing contact with friends and family and can leave you feeling isolated. Always make sure you stay connected with your loved ones. It will help your mental health and will provide you with a much-needed escape when you need someone to talk to.

Relax mom

Finally, but arguably the most important tip on the list, get some sleep (that is my escape) Moms are notorious for having the “I need to finish my to-do-list before my child wakes up” mentality however don’t fall into this trap. Chronic sleep deprivation has never been a good look on anybody especially considering all the unwanted health conditions that comes with it. Bottom line? Don’t skimp on sleep.
